Courtney Love, Tom Morello, and Garbage honor Jennifer Finch of L7

L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has died at 59. The band announced her death late Saturday. She had been diagnosed days earlier with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Many musicians paid tribute. Hole’s Courtney Love posted a photo of Finch and called her a founder of an important band. Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello replied on L7’s post, saying Finch was “an important fixture of the LA scene,” a kind person and a true artist. He wrote that he loved, respected and admired her and that she will be missed.

Garbage wrote, “Rest in power beautiful Jennifer Finch,” and said they were relieved she was no longer suffering. They offered condolences to L7, to fans, friends and family, and called her loss a terrible one for music and the wider music community.

Finch helped shape L7’s sound and left a lasting mark on the punk and rock scenes. Fans and fellow musicians are mourning a powerful presence in music.
