Jim James of My Morning Jacket has released a new song called “Wowed Out,” the title track from his upcoming solo album. James says he was inspired by music like Alice Coltrane’s spiritual recordings — simple, prayer-like pieces with no big dramatic moments. He wanted the songs to feel like a journey, not chase huge choruses or giant guitar solos.
You can watch the “Wowed Out” video on YouTube. The album Wowed Out arrives Aug. 28. It’s James’ first solo record in eight years and includes the single “Come Again.”
