Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath’s guitarist, is releasing a new solo album called From the Dark. It arrives Oct. 23 and is his first solo record in more than 20 years.
Iommi recorded the album with singer Jorn Lande, bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. “It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making,” he says. “We’re not trying to prove anything — it’s a great album, it rocks!”
The first single, “World Alone,” is out now with a video available on YouTube.
Since his last solo release in 2005, Iommi and Black Sabbath put out 2013’s 13 and finished a farewell tour in 2017. The original band—Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward—reunited for one final show at the 2025 Back to the Beginning concert. Ozzy died a little over two weeks later.
