Modest Mouse announced that guitarist Simon O’Connor will not join the band for their upcoming U.S. tour dates. The band said the change comes after a fan accused O’Connor of sending inappropriate messages.
O’Connor, who joined Modest Mouse in 2021, posted on Reddit saying he opposes any sexual behavior toward minors. He said he accidentally sent a “tasteless meme” to the wrong person, unsent the messages, and stopped communicating. He apologized to the person who received the messages.
The tour starts Aug. 4 in Ojai, California. It will support the band’s new album, An Eraser and a Maze.
