Tim Montana calls his new album Entire State of Tim Montana “the entire state of me.” The title fits, he says — the record has deep personal songs, fun tracks and some covers.
The album opens with a skit featuring Martin Sheen and Robert Patrick. Montana asked Patrick to record a line on his phone, but Patrick offered to write a proper skit instead. “Sure,” Montana said, and it made the record.
Guests on the album include Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top, Slash and Jerry Cantrell. Montana is still amazed. “I can’t believe I got one of these guys, let alone all of these guys,” he says.
There’s also a cover of Katy Perry’s “Roar.” Montana learned the song years ago for his daughter and started playing it live because crowds liked it. “I’ve got two daughters, so I’m gonna cover a female pop song for my girls,” he says.
Montana will tour the U.S. with Alter Bridge starting in November. Fans can expect a mix of hard rock, personal songs and a few surprises live.
