Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath are featured on a new limited-edition charity album called Sound & Vision Live. The double vinyl was recorded in March at the first Palm Springs Sound & Vision Awards. Matt Sorum, former Guns N’ Roses drummer, produced the album.
Proceeds go to Sorum’s Adopt the Arts foundation, which supports music education in underserved elementary schools. The record includes performances by Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Steve Stevens, Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), among others.
Sorum says he originally recorded the night to preserve the show, but the playback felt special and worth releasing. The first pressing is limited to 2,000 copies and is available for preorder now through Experience Vinyl. Shipping starts Sept. 28.
A release event will take place Sept. 13 at the Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs. The event will screen a companion concert film twice, and 250 Collector’s Edition colored vinyl copies will be sold there.
