Mastodon has released a new song called “In the Ruins” from their upcoming album Marrow Deep. The band says the song was inspired by Hurricane Helene and the damage it caused to bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders and his family.
A video for “In the Ruins” is out now on YouTube. It follows a one-eyed creature named Frank.
Marrow Deep arrives on Aug. 28. It also includes previously released tracks “Your Ghost Again” and “Snakes for Dinner.” This is Mastodon’s first album since guitarist Brent Hinds died in 2025. The band will start a U.S. tour in September.
