White shared lyrics to the 1984 novelty track “Rappin’ Duke” after Crockett accused him of using opener drama to sell tickets.
Jack White has responded on Instagram after country artist Charley Crockett stated he lost respect for the rocker amid a dispute involving the group Twin Temple. The situation originated in July when Twin Temple claimed they were dropped as Crockett’s opening act over their use of “Satanic imagery.” Crockett denied those claims in a since-deleted Instagram post, stating the group was paid in full and let go due to unaccommodating physical production requests and audience suitability. Crockett also accused White of using the drama to sell tickets after White invited Twin Temple to open his upcoming concert in Los Angeles.
In his Instagram reply to Crockett’s accusations, White stated he was providing his official response before sharing the lyrics to Shawn Brown’s 1984 hip-hop track “Rappin’ Duke,” a novelty song performed from the perspective of actor John Wayne. White’s Los Angeles concert featuring Twin Temple is scheduled for Sept. 29.
