The performer behind Optimus Prime and Eeyore amassed over 200 acting credits throughout his career.
Peter Cullen, the voice actor who played Optimus Prime in Transformers and Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, has died at the age of 85. No cause of death was announced. In a statement, his family shared that he passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Spanning decades with more than 200 acting credits, Cullen’s work included roles in Knight Rider and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, vocal effects for the 1987 film Predator, and an early career breakthrough as the announcer on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour in the 1970s.
Born in Canada, Cullen started his career in comedy before moving to Los Angeles. In past interviews, he recounted discovering his talent for voices as an eight-year-old child working on a farm, and later expressed that interacting with young fans as Eeyore was one of his greatest joys.
