The track is the metal band’s first release in over three years and the first on their own record label.
On September 9, Slipknot released a surprise new single titled “Arsenal,” marking the band’s first new song in over three years. The release is accompanied by a music video directed by band member M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan and starring actor Jackson White. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, vocalist Corey Taylor described the track as a “pummeling experience” that encapsulates the band’s complete sound.
The single represents a new chapter for Slipknot, serving as their first release on their independent imprint, (sic)est Records, following the conclusion of their long-term deal with Roadrunner Records. “Arsenal” is also the band’s first studio recording featuring new drummer Eloy Casagrande, as well as their first song released following the departures of keyboardist Craig Jones, drummer Jay Weinberg, and turntablist Sid Wilson.
