Producer Lauren Christy detailed how an overnight rework of a track won over the band on the ‘Behind The Wall’ podcast.
Pop-rock production team The Matrix nearly got kicked out of the studio when they first began working with Korn on their 2005 album See You On The Other Side. Speaking on the Behind The Wall podcast, producer Lauren Christy recalled that the band initially dismissed her team—which also includes Scott Spock and Graham Edwards—as just “pop guys.” However, after Spock and engineer Chris Holmes stayed up all night editing pieces of Korn’s playing to create the song “Twisted Transistor,” vocalist Jonathan Davis loved the track, prompting the band to sign on for a full album.
The collaboration produced tracks such as “Coming Undone.” Christy, who previously worked with artists like Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and Christina Aguilera, noted that she resorted to writing lyrics in her car outside the studio because Davis’s writing room contained a life-sized Jesus lying on an altar. Despite the unusual setup and tense start, Christy stated that she had a great time working with band members Davis, Fieldy, and Munky, and that they remain friends today.
