The California punk band performed two nights at Brooklyn Paramount with Descendents and The Chats.
California punk band Social Distortion performed at the Brooklyn Paramount on Sept. 11 and 12, following the May 8 release of their eighth studio album, Born to Kill—their first studio album in 15 years. Joined by opening acts Descendents and The Chats, both shows opened with “Born to Kill” and featured six new songs alongside 11 older tracks. Frontman Mike Ness led the performances, which included “Story of My Life” and the first performance of “Prison Bound” this year, following his 2023 diagnosis and subsequent treatment for stage 1 tonsil cancer.
Founded by Ness in Fullerton, California in 1978, Social Distortion’s current lineup—featuring Ness on vocals and guitar, guitarist Jonny Wickersham, bassist Brent Harding, and drummer David Hidalgo Jr.—has remained unchanged since 2010. The band’s tour is scheduled to conclude on Oct. 3 in San Diego.
