The musician passed away peacefully following a years-long battle with cancer, his family and bandmates announced.
Chad Everett Gilbert, the founding guitarist and songwriter for New Found Glory, died at the age of 45 on September 20. His wife, Lisa Cimorelli, and his bandmates announced his passing in a joint statement, sharing that he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by friends and family, with his wife and mother by his side.
Gilbert’s death follows a prolonged battle with cancer. In late 2021, he revealed a diagnosis of pheochromocytoma, a rare tumor in the adrenal glands, which required surgery. He underwent further treatment for a tumor in his spine and, earlier in 2026, underwent emergency brain surgery after the cancer spread to his lungs and spine.
