A $785,000 donation from the band pushed the campaign for the St. Catharines memorial past its fundraising target.
The fundraising campaign for a permanent memorial honoring late Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart has officially reached its $1 million goal. Rush members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson helped secure the target by presenting a $785,000 check to the Neil Peart Commemorative Task Force Fundraising Sub-Committee and City of St. Catharines staff following their August 13 concert at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The donation was generated from VIP experiences and packages from Rush’s Fifty Something tour, adding to fan contributions and Lee’s previous pledge of $1 per ticket sold during his 2023 My Effin’ Life book tour.
Located at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines, Ontario, next to the Neil Peart Pavilion, the memorial was designed by Morgan MacDonald of The Newfoundland Bronze Foundry (Morgan Sculpture Inc.) and will feature two larger-than-life bronze sculptures of Peart. The fundraising campaign remains open through October 15 to allow fans to purchase commemorative engraved panels, and the memorial is scheduled to open in late 2027.
