The band returned to Mount Temple Comprehensive School on September 25, 2026, playing a seven-song set for students and staff.
On September 25, 2026, exactly 50 years after first forming, U2 celebrated their anniversary by playing a surprise concert at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin, where the band members first met as teenagers. Members Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. performed a 35-minute, seven-song set in the schoolyard before an audience of approximately 1,000 students and staff. Taking the stage to Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out,” the group played “I Will Follow,” “Vertigo,” “Beautiful Day,” “Out of Control,” and an encore of “With or Without You,” alongside the live debut of their new single, “Silencio.”
During the performance of “One,” U2 was joined by young musicians playing strings and harps from Ireland’s Music Generation program. Following the appearance at their former high school, the band performed an additional set from the balcony of Bewley’s on Grafton in Dublin.
