Band members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante confirm the thrash metal group is not quitting after releasing their first album in a decade.
Thrash metal pioneers Anthrax have released Cursum Perficio, their first studio album in 10 years, via Megaforce in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast across Europe. Addressing speculation raised by the album’s title—which translates from Latin as “my journey has come to an end”—guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante clarified during a Sept. 28 radio show appearance that the band has no plans to retire. The album was recorded starting in 2022 at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles and was produced by Jay Ruston alongside the band.
Formed in Queens, New York, in 1981, the group recently performed for roughly 6,000 people at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. The album rollout also featured a black-and-white music video for the title track, directed by documentarian Don Argott and starring London May.
