The 10-track project from the guitar duo releases Nov. 6 via earMUSIC.
Guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are set to release their first full collaborative studio album, The Sea of Emotion, on Nov. 6 through earMUSIC under the name SatchVai. The 10-track record, led by the single “Mayhem,” includes guest vocals from Glenn Hughes on the track “I Wanna Play My Guitar” and concludes with a three-part title suite. The suite’s final portion incorporates a 1973 reel-to-reel recording from when a 13-year-old Vai was taking guitar lessons from a 17-year-old Satriani on Long Island.
Produced with keyboardist Eric Caudieux, the album features contributions from five drummers and six bassists. The Sea of Emotion is available for pre-order on CD and vinyl, alongside a limited run of 30 hand-painted, numbered, and signed test pressings available through official SatchVai stores.
