The Mötley Crüe bassist expressed a preference for live-recorded sounds over overproduced tracks in a social media post.
Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx shared in a post on X that he wants to return to a raw, unfiltered sound and has lost interest in overly polished, overproduced rock music. Sixx stated that his favorite musical moments happen during rehearsals while playing live off the floor, adding that he prefers to hear the imperfections, danger, and humanity in music, referencing the energy of current underground bands.
The comments follow a 33-date North American tour, “The Return of the Carnival of Sins,” which Mötley Crüe completed in late September 2026 alongside special guests Tesla and Extreme. The band has also spent time in Los Angeles and Vancouver recording with producer Bob Rock, who aimed to capture the raw feel of their early records following their 2024 EP release, Cancelled.
