Wolfgang Van Halen’s band Mammoth has split with touring drummer Garrett Whitlock. Nathan Bulla, who plays in Intervals and Protest The Hero, took over the drum seat on Oct. 31 in Santiago, Chile.
The band broke the news on Oct. 29 in a social media statement. “Touring drummer Garrett Whitlock and Mammoth have agreed to amicably part ways. We thank Garrett for his time with Mammoth and wish him the best in all his future endeavors,” the statement said.
It named his replacement too. “Nathan Bulla (Intervals, Protest The Hero) will be joining us for drummer duties with the continuation of ‘The End’ tour beginning October 31st in Santiago, Chile and moving on to Europe shortly after.” The band gave no reason for the exit.
Whitlock had been Mammoth’s touring drummer since 2021. Back then, the group went by Mammoth WVH.
Mammoth released its third album, The End, on Oct. 24, 2025. It has 10 tracks and runs 39 minutes. Michael “Elvis” Baskette produced it.
The debut, Mammoth WVH, opened at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 in 2021. It also hit No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Independent Albums, and Top Rock Albums charts. “Distance” earned a GRAMMY nomination for best rock song. The second album, Mammoth II, debuted in the top five of the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and reached No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
The band is currently on tour, and their European leg starts Thursday, Nov. 5, at Gruenspan in Hamburg, Germany. Stops in Copenhagen, Oslo, Gothenburg, Berlin, Warsaw, and Prague come next.
On Tuesday, Nov. 24, cameras will roll at the band’s headline show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London. Paris follows on Nov. 26. After that, Mammoth plays Antwerp on Nov. 28 and Cologne on Nov. 29.
All dates for this year and the next are listed on the band’s website.
