Two Philadelphia-area businesses are collaborating on an unusual brew and candy that will add a sweet-and-salty kick to your mug and your mouth.
Cape May Brewing is teaming up with Asher’s Chocolate to create a new beer inspired by chocolate-covered pretzels, featuring a chocolatey, salty profile, according to a PhillyVoice report. The collaboration highlights Dipped & Twisted: a Chocolate-Covered Pretzel Imperial Brown Ale brewed with Asher’s chocolate, sea salt, and caramel, at 8% ABV. This brew will be available on draft and in six-packs at Cape May Brewing Company’s tasting room and select locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Along with the beer, two limited-edition candies will accompany it. Cape May Crunch and Malted Sea Salt Caramels, both infused with Cape May Crunch and chocolatey elements, will come with pre-packaged chocolate bags sold at Asher’s Chocolate Retail Store & Candy Factory. The PhillyVoice noted that the candy products, which will not contain alcohol, will be sold at Asher’s shop in Souderton and online through the company website.
Tasting events are planned. Cape May Brewing will offer patrons the new products, Asher’s chocolate-covered pretzels, and the rest of its beers Friday, Nov. 6, inside its taproom at 1250 Hornet Road in Cape May. Asher’s will host an event on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at its retail store at 80 Wambold Road in Souderton.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership with Asher’s Chocolate Co! Our brewmasters have been working hard with their chocolatiers to craft a one-of-a-kind sweet-and-salty beer,” said Ryan Krill, president and co-founder of the Cape May Brewing Company, in a statement shared with Brewer Magazine.
“We’re excited to pair our favorite snacks, chocolate-covered pretzels, with malted beer flavors to create some truly unique treats,” added Chester Asher, marketing director and fifth-generation member of Asher’s Chocolate Co., in a statement.
