As has been heavily rumored, Genesis is going to reunite for tour dates later this year. Unfortunately for American fans, they have only announced UK dates. This will be the band’s first tour in 13 years; their 2007 reunion tour marked the first time that Genesis toured with drummer/singer Phil Collins since he quit the band in 1996.

The tour will feature the band’s most popular lineup: Mike Rutherford on bass and guitar, Tony Banks on keyboards, and Collins on vocals. Collins, however, is no longer able to play drums due to extensive nerve damage. Collins announced his retirement from music years ago, but returned in 2015. In recent years, he’s toured arenas with his solo band, singing from a chair. His son, Nic Collins, has been his drummer and will be playing on the Genesis tour as well.

Daryl Stuermer, who has been the band’s touring bassist/guitarist since 1978, will be returning for this tour. Chester Thompson, the band’s longtime touring drummer, will not. (Thompson played drums on the Genesis tours allowing Collins to concentrate on singing, although there were always two drum kits on stage.)

Some media outlets have expressed surprise that former singer Peter Gabriel and former guitarist Steve Hackett won’t be along for the tour. Gabriel, however, quit the band in 1975 (at which point Collins took over vocal duties) and Hackett in 1977 (bassist Rutherford took over as guitarist). Hackett is currently on a U.S. tour where he’s playing the band’s 1973 album, Selling England By The Pound in its entirety.
