The Pretty Reckless released their fourth studio album, Death By Rock And Roll, today (February 12), and with it comes the unveiling of “Only Love Can Save Me Now” which features Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron.
Embedded below, the track is the second major collaboration on the album, with the other being ‘And So It Went. Cameron has long been attached to the new TPR album dating back to November 2019 when Taylor Momsen shared a photo with the Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer to Instagram with the caption, “Wait til you hear this…#tpr4 the incomparable @themattcameron #LondonBridgeStudios #Seattle.”
The Pretty Reckless have a strong tie to Soundgarden. In 2017, they supported the iconic Seattle band on tour which was sadly the band’s last with singer Chris Cornell. Following the tour, The Pretty Reckless took a significant break with Momsen explaining on Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown back in May 2020, “We had a few hard years. I’m not gonna lie. I went pretty down. Not to get too heavy into it, but I went pretty down into depression, and it took music to get me out of it again. I finally started writing again to get out everything that I was feeling, and that is what turned into the record that you are all going to hear hopefully very soon. I know it’s cliché, but music has saved my life time and time again. It’s the thing that I can always rely on and turn to, and it’s always there for me. It’s always supported me, so I support it.”
Death By Rock And Roll is available on all major streaming platforms which physical copies, including special edition vinyl and album merch, available at DeathByRockAndRoll.com.
