Trent Reznor added yet another award to his mantle last night (February 28) when he, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score for his work on the Pixar film Soul.

The primarily virtual event saw winners accept their awards via video message or in a Zoom-style video chat. When it was time for Reznor to say a few words, he joked, “I think this is the first piece of art I’ve ever made in my life that I can actually show to my kids. So, thank you, Pixar.”

When you think about the NSFW video for Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”, and every boundary-pushing piece he’s made since then… he’s probably right.

Reznor and Ross have had a lot of success for their score work. Last night’s win marks their second Golden Globe win for Best Original Score. Their first came in 2011 for their score work on The Social Network for which they also earned an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Reznor and Ross have also nabbed an Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special in 2020 for their score work on Watchmen.
