Metallica Mark ‘Master of Puppets’ 35th Anniversary with ‘Colbert’ Performance

Metallica appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night (March 3) where they marked the 35th anniversary of Master of Puppets.

The band played “Battery,” the opening track to their third studio album. Their performance was introduced by Stephen Colbert who said, “Their album ‘Master of Puppets’ was released 35 years ago today and had such an impact that it was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.”

Metallica’s performance on The Late Show is the second time in about a month they’ve performed on the CBS late-night talk show. They previously appeared on the show during its post-Super Bowl episode where they performed “Enter Sandman.”
