ZZ Top-Inspired Tex-Mex Restaurant Opening in Houston

ZZ Top is the inspiration behind a new Tex-Mex restaurant opening in Houston on April 22.

Per the Houston Chronicle, Tres Amigos Café y Cantina is the brainchild of Ken Bridge, the CEO of the Delicious Concepts restaurant group. Bridge, a big ZZ Top fan and a friend of frontman Billy Gibbons, came up with the idea as a way to expand his portfolio and display his ZZ Top memorabilia.

Bridge even reached out to Pura Vida Tequila founder Stewart Skloss, who also has a working relationship with Gibbons, for the new venture.

Bridge said, “The three of us have tinkered with the idea of doing a ‘hole in the wall’ Tex-Mex cantina that could house some of my and Billy’s favorite pieces.”

The Houston Chronicle notes, “While Gibbons and Skloss are not owners, their presence will be very much felt. Margaritas made with Pura Vida will be on the menu, and Bridge plans to added live music to the venue.”

ZZ Top fans looking to make a pilgrimage to the band’s hometown will have this added incentive to visit the restaurant: 75 percent of the proceeds it generates will be donated to the St. Jude Foundation, according to Houstonia magazine.
