Motley Crue: Does Vince Neil’s Solo Show Signal That ‘The Stadium Tour’ Is Delayed Again?

One of the biggest stories in rock music in the pre-pandemic world was the announcement that Motley Crue were ending their retirement to headline The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. The tour, of course, was scheduled for 2020, and rescheduled to the summer of 2021. But with lots of big rock tours postponing until 2022 (including Rage Against The Machine’s reunion tour and Roger Waters’ tour), fans have been wondering, will The Stadium tour hit stadiums this summer?

As our friends at The Shark pointed out, Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil recently announced a solo date at Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel in New York on June 18, just one night before the rescheduled Stadium tour is set to kick off on June 19 in Nashville, per Motley Crue’s website. While that show doesn’t mean that he can’t make it to Nashville the following day, but it would be highly unusual for the singer of a stadium headlining band to play a small show the night before the opening night of a massive high profile tour halfway across the country.

For Neils’s solo show at Batavia Downs, concert goers have to show a negative COVID test result or proof of immunization to get in to the show; they can’t attend the show, even if they have a ticket, without their test result or proof of immunization. Seat groupings are being sold six feet apart; of course that won’t be the case at The Stadium Tour, as tickets were sold before the coronavirus hit.
