Slipknot has released a statement on the death of former drummer/co-founder Joey Jordison along with an 8-minute tribute video.
“Our hearts go out to Joey’s family and loved ones at this time of tremendous loss,” begins the band’s statement. “Joey Jordison’s art, talent, and spirit could not be contained or be held back. Joey’s impact on Slipknot, on our lives, and on the music that he loved, is incalculable. Without him there would be no us. We mourn his loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey.”
The band’s statement prefaced a tribute video of Jordison through the years during his time in Slipknot. The video contains performance and other behind-the-scenes footage. (NOTE: Video below contains NSFW language.)
Jordison left Slipknot in December 2013. He would be replaced by Jay Weinberg, the son of Max Weinberg, the drummer of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Jordison was also the guitarist in the band the Murderdolls. Jordison performed on Slipknot’s first four studio albums: 1999’s Slipknot, 2001’s Iowa, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2008’s All Hope Is Gone.
