Ahead of the October 15 release of his debut album Optimist, Billie Eilish sibling turned collaborator and Grammy Award-winning producer Finneas has shared the album’s second single “The 90s,” along with an accompanying music video directed by Sam Bennett and choreographed by Monika Felice Smith.

Written and produced solely by Finneas, “The 90s” finds the artist yearning for the accessibility of the past. “Sometimes I think about the 90s / I know that everyone romanticized it / But you could sign me up / For a world without the internet / I hate how easy they can find me / Just by looking up my mom’s address,” he sings on the opening verse.

In an interview with Apple Music, Finneas said: “I think the ’90s were the most modern time that wasn’t ruled by the internet. I think there was an air of optimism that is maybe not as present today in 2021. And I think it’s always important to be optimistic, but I think there was this hopeful, future-is-bright in the ‘90s. And I think we’re right now in that period of time where there’s a lot of scientists shaking their head.”

“The 90s” arrives as the second single from Optimist, following “A Concert Six Months From Now,” which was shared early last month. The album will also feature the previously released track “What They’ll Say About Us.”

Finneas will be taking the project on the road this fall with a 15-city North American tour. The trek officially begins on October 25 after his festival appearances at BottleRock Festival, iHeartRadio Music Festival and Austin City Limits. The tour will include headlining shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Athens, OH, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, New York, Boston, Montreal and Toronto. Tickets are available now via the official Finneas website.

Pre-order Optimist, the debut album from Finneas, out October 15.
