Loretta Lynn To Host Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, And More At Flood Relief Show

Country music matriarch Loretta Lynn will host a star-laden benefit event next week following the devastating flooding that occurred on August 17 in the Tennessee regions of Dickson and her home town of Humphreys Counties.

Loretta Lynn’s Friends: Hometown Rising Flood Relief Benefit Concert will take place on September 13 at the Grand Ole Opry House. Lynn, now aged 89, will be joined by such fellow figureheads as Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, and Luke Combs, all of whom have been confirmed for the fundraiser, with more names to be added imminently.

The concert will also be broadcast live on Circle Network at 7pm CT and streamed live on Circle All Access across social media. All proceeds will go directly to support United Way of Humphreys County. Tickets are sold out, but you can add your name to the wait list here.

“I am so honored that so many of our friends are coming together to show so much love for our neighbors and community after such a devastating loss,” says Lynn. “You know, we’ve all needed help from time to time, and that’s why when we can give back, we do.” Her family’s own longtime ranch hand Wayne Spears was one of the 20 people to lose their lives as a result of the flash floods in rural Tennessee, in which 15 inches of rain fell in six hours.

The charity’s executive director Nioka Curtis observes: “United Way of Humphreys County has been dedicated to our communities for years, and we established the Humphreys County Flood Relief Fund to get immediate and long-term needs met for all the flood victims. We had no idea this would be one of the worst floods in our history, but our community will be whole again. It’s UWHC’s goal to help make that happen as quickly as possible with the help of our generous donors.

“From the rental deposits and down payments necessary for people to get re-housed, to remodeling, replacing clothing and rebuilding their lives, we want to make sure their needs are met and we will continue our fight to make that happen.” Readers in the US who would like to donate to the cause can visit the donations page or text TNFLOODRELIEF to 44321.
