Sons Of Kemet have announced a short run of headline shows taking place across the UK in February next year.
The London-based experimental jazz quartet will begin the tour in Manchester, making stops in Glasgow, Leeds, and Bristol before finishing in London’s Roundhouse for the biggest headline show of their career. They will then play a few European shows before jetting across the Atlantic for a string of previously announced shows across North America. It is their first tour since 2018.
“UK/EU tickets on sale now!!! We cannot wait to be back playing live for you after such a long pause,” the group wrote on Twitter earlier in the week.
The tour is in support of their recent critically-acclaimed third album, Black To The Future, which was released in May via Impulse! Records.
The record was hailed as a “propulsive mind- and body-moving record” by Pitchfork and described by Stereogum as “another powerful, knotted, rewarding and vital entry in what is fast becoming a formidable body of work.” It serves as the follow-up to 2018’s Mercury-nominated Your Queen Is A Reptile.
The group also recently stole the show at London’s jazz, soul, and funk Cross the Tracks festival, joined by sax star Nubya Garcia, and other artists of the UK’s new generation of jazz stars.
Sons of Kemet are also scheduled to play Pitchfork Paris 2021, which is taking place between November 15-21, alongside Claud and TV Priest. The rest of the festival’s avant-garde programming was announced today, alongside after-shows taking place from November 19-21. Tickets can be purchased here.
The first-ever London edition of Pitchfork Festival will be taking place the week before, from November 10-14.
