Netflix and Interscope Records have come together to release a brand new song and lyric video from Grammy-winning superstar Kali Uchis entitled “If It’s To Be.”

Featuring jaw-dropping animation from the Netflix animated event Maya and the Three from creator/director Jorge R. Gutiérrez (The Book of Life), the single and video are available in both English and Spanish. Maya and the Three debuts worldwide on Netflix October 22.

Written by songwriting legends Gustavo Santaolalla and Paul Williams, “If It’s To Be” was recorded specifically for the soundtrack of Maya and the Three and features stunning vocals from Uchis, who has had an impressive 2021 with a Grammy for “Best Dance Recording” and taking home Latin Pop Album of the Year at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards. The song is available now everywhere with the entire soundtrack and score available beginning October 22.

In September, Uchis shared a snippet of a new remix of last year’s Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) track “fue mejor,” shortly thereafter releasing the entire thing, featuring new vocals from SZA.

In the new version, SZA matches Uchis’ languid cadence and even sings her verses in Spanish. The new remix arrived with a very sensual video to match, as Uchis and SZA writhe around in various locations, from atop racing cars to literally being engulfed in flames.

“Fue Mejor” originally appeared on Uchis’ first Spanish-language full-length album, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), and boasted a PARTYNEXTDOOR cameo.

Kali Uchis’s profile has been on the rise over the past few years, and her 2020 album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞ continues to rack up streams and critical praise this year.

The Colombian-American singer was also chosen as one of the artists to open for Tyler, The Creator on his 2022 tour, and the two previously collaborated before on “After The Storm” off her 2018 album Isolation.
