Camel Announce ’50 Years Strong’ England & Scotland Tour Dates

UK prog legends Camel have announced a short run of English and Scottish tour dates for 2023, under the banner of ’50 Years Strong’. Of course Camel formed in 1971 but released their self-titled debut album in 1973.

The current line-up features founding member Andy Latimer alongside long-standing bass player Colin Bass and drummer Denis Clement and more recent addition Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales, Cyan) on keyboards.

These will be the band’s first live dates for five years, since they celebrated the release of 1975’s Moonmadness, culminating in a stunning show at London’s Royal Albert Hall in September 2018. Tickets and further information about all the shows is available from the band’s official website.

Pioneers in the field of the ambitious concept album and masters of progressive rock, not to mention their facility with space jams and symphonic structures, Camel have been a fixture on the scene since the young group formed in the early 1970s. Still thrilling their fans today – they’ve been touring their classic The Snow Goose and playing it in its entirety – Camel is one of those names that everyone knows but may not yet have discovered.

Their legacy is there for all to bear witness – tribute acts and groups directly inspired by their work exist in Japan and Norway, and their British fan base remains as solid as ever. The chance to revisit them or to enjoy their music for the first time gives added piquancy to a formidable catalogue which features the original core line-up and subsequent ensembles boosted by top-notch specialists.

Camel’s ’50 Years Strong’ England and Scotland tour dates for 2023 include the following shows:

Jun 2: Manchester O2 Apollo
Jun 3: Edinburgh Usher Hall
Jun 6: Southampton O2 Guildhall
Jun 7: Aylesbury Friars Waterside
Jun 8: Birmingham Symphony Hall
Jun 10: London Eventim Apollo.
