Dave Grohl: Latest ‘Hanukkah Sessions’ Cover Tackles Barry Manilow

Dave Grohl and producer/frequent collaborator Greg Kurstin have released their third cover as part of the 2021 installment of “The Hanukkah Sessions.”

In honor of night three of Hanukkah, Grohl and Kurstin released a cover of Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana,” which doesn’t veer far from its source material making for a very charming rendition. Grohl even dons sequined tails in the track’s video below!

Per the cover’s YouTube description, “Barry Pincus – not only one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th (or any) century, but a mega-mensch to boot! So, like a good neighbor, you deserve a break today. So grab a bucket of chicken and let’s get stuck on….. BARRY MANILOW’S ‘Copacabana’!”

Last year, Grohl and Kurstin released a new cover every night of Hanukkah that was performed by a Jewish artist. Their covers honored eight different acts including the Beastie Boys, Bob Dylan and more.

So far in 2021 — in addition to Manilow — Grohl and Kurstin have covered Lisa Loeb’s ‘Stay’ and the Ramones’ ‘Blitzkreig Bop.’
