Clairo Reschedules 2022 UK And Europe Tour Due To COVID-19 Spike

Clairo has announced that her upcoming UK and European tour dates have been rescheduled for later in 2022.

The shows were meant to kick off in Bristol on January 10, before moving through the continent and returning to the UK, where the tour would conclude at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on January 23.

However, rising cases of COVID-19 due to the Omicron variant have now caused the dates to be pushed back until September and October. Support act Jonah Yano will still join the musician on the road for the new shows.

“I reeeeally hate to do this – but we have decided to reschedule the upcoming January Europe/UK tour,” Clairo wrote on Instagram. “As much as we want to get back on the road, everybody’s safety is far more important & I hope you understand.”

Tickets for the original dates will be “100 percent valid” for the rescheduled shows, while fans can obtain refunds if they can no longer make it by contacting the website where they bought their tickets.

Clairo added: “Good news: We’ve upgraded our venue in Paris, added shows in Amsterdam and Brussels and released more tickets for Birmingham […] Stay safe and we can’t wait to bring this show to you all next year.”

At present, the acclaimed indie artist is still due to begin her North American tour in February. Arlo Parks will join her as support on those dates.

Clairo’s 2022 tour dates will be in support of her latest album Sling, which was released in July 2021. The star worked with producer Jack Antonoff on the record, crafting a piece of work that recalled classic 70s singer-songwriters and Laurel Canyon folk, and explored her feelings around domesticity and identity.

All shows on the tour will also be in partnership with SafeTour and Calling All Crows, in a bid to create a “safe and harassment-free experience” for her fans. Representatives from the companies will be present at the show to respond to requests for support through a text helpline, while they will also provide “proactive canvassing of each concert, [as well as] messaging and educational support so that attendees can take part in making these shows and their own communities safer.”
