The Weeknd has shared a new video for “Gasoline,” taken from his new album Dawn FM, which was released last week (January 7).

The video was directed by Matilda Finn and is based in a dark and dingy club, filled with revelers who aren’t entirely what they seem. The clip begins with The Weeknd in the same form as is shown on Dawn FM’s cover – with grey hair and wrinkled skin – stumbling into the venue after crashing his car on an unlit road.

Once inside the club, he swiftly de-ages, but has to endure encounters with serpents, hands grabbing at his legs from the ground, and party-goers whose true identities might be monsters.

The “Gasoline” video follows more visuals that were shared last week for the track “Sacrifice.” That video was directed by the duo Cliqua and saw Abel Tesfaye strapped to a massive circular device, interacting with a number of strange figures including a character in a red cloak.

Dawn FM arrived last Friday with only a few days notice of its release. Dubbed a “sonic experience” by its creator, it also features guest contributions from Tyler, The Creator, Quincy Jones, Lil Wayne, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Swedish House Mafia, while actor Jim Carrey serves as a host on a bizarre daytime radio show, narrating several skits across the record.

As part of the album’s rollout, The Weeknd appeared in “103.5 Dawn FM”, a livestream experience that aired exclusively on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and in the Amazon Music app. Exclusive merch to commemorate the event was also released through Amazon, with the products only available to purchase for 48 hours.

Elsewhere, Tesfaye is working on his debut TV project. The Idol will be broadcast by HBO and will star the musician, who has also co-written the show. Last year, he also collaborated with Ariana Grande on a remix of “Save Your Tears,” Doja Cat on “You Right,” Swedish House Mafia on “Moth To A Flame,” and Post Malone on “One Right Now.” The Weeknd appeared on two songs with Belly in 2021 – the Young Thug-featuring “Better Believe” and alongside Nas on “Die For It.”
