Years & Years Shares Anthemic New Song ‘Sooner Or Later’

Years & Years has shared “Sooner Or Later,” another taste of its upcoming third album, Night Call.

The anthemic track channels Olly Alexander’s rage felt towards men who have messed him around into a punchy piece of hedonistic pop. “Heartbreaker, you’ll be the death of me,” he sings at one point, adding a warning to those playing games with his heart: “I’m gonna break you, sooner or later.”

“Sooner Or Later” follows previous singles “Starstruck” and the Galantis-featuring “Sweet Talker,” both of which are also set to appear on Night Call. The album will arrive on January 21 and marks the first full-length release from Years & Years since Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen left the group. Alexander will now continue under the moniker as a solo artist.

On Night Call, the pop star was inspired by pioneering figures like US disco star Sylvester and club-ready French house, while its songs document the search for love before ultimately finding power within yourself. It blurs the line between fantasy and reality, its tracklist bound together by its explorations of queer life. “I was writing from a fantastical space, stuck in the same four walls. I wanted to have as much pleasure as possible in the music,” Alexander explains.

Last year, Alexander teamed up with two pop icons to contribute to their records. In October, he joined Kylie Minogue on the joyous “Second To Midnight,” the lead single from the Aussie star’s Disco: The Guest List Edition. Weeks later, he appeared on Elton John’s star-studded The Lockdown Sessions record with “It’s A Sin (global reach mix).”

Meanwhile, the singer is preparing to head out on the road for a series of Years & Years headline arena shows. The tour will kick off in Brighton on May 19 and includes a stop at London’s SSE Arena Wembley on May 26. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.

Years & Years’ Night Call will be released on January 21. Pre-order it here.
