Metallica’s Kirk Hammett has long been a horror enthusiast: we’ve seen his love for the genre in the designs on several of his guitars, his t-shirts, not to mention his “Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear Festivals” that he has curated, and his book, Too Much Horror Business, which documents his collection of monster movie memorabilia. And now, he’s hooked up with AMC Networks Publishing, the newly announced publishing arm of AMC Networks, the home of The Walking Dead.

Hammett and his writing partner/co-creator Marcel Feldmar will be writing a comic book called Nights Of Lono, which is apparently a working title. Per AMC, the comic “tells the story of a troubled female detective in 1989 Hawaii who is hired to find King Kamehameha’s tomb before it is discovered by an unscrupulous occultist from the mainland. A mix of mystery and supernatural adventure, the story is a self-aware journey through standard detective tropes and cliches that are sharpened and given new life with fresh takes on the myths and folklore of the Hawaiian Islands.”

Hammett will also be contributing a forward to another AMC book, Shudder’s Creepshow: From Script to Scream (also a working title), which brings fans behind the scenes of the Creepshow series. Stephen King will write the book’s afterword.

But if you’re more interested in his shredding than his fixation with creepy stuff, Kirk and Metallica recently announced  two new stadium dates .
