Nashville-based Southern rock/outlaw artist J.D. HUGGINS has shared a stirring new single, “Head Full Of Monsters,” from his debut album due June 17 via Struggle Jennings’ Angels & Outlaws record label. The single gives an intimate look into J.D.’s life including his battle with past vices, the hardship of the loss of his first-born son and his unceasing fight to overcome negativity. Labelmate Caitlynne Curtis lends striking vocals on the track and can be seen alongside J.D. in the impactful music video which premiered via YouTube yesterday, March 10. “The song is just one of those really personal, ‘heart on your sleeve’ type of songs,” says JD. “I wrote it about some really personal experiences, like overcoming depression, anxiety, and being an extreme alcoholic for years to getting sober because I had my first child on the way to later losing my first-born son. These are just a portion of the experiences I wrote about in this song. I eventually came to the realization that if I expect people to really support and get behind what I’m singing about, I had to be vulnerable and put this song out.  It’s real and people want to hear real.”

J.D. combines Southern blues and dirty alternative rock to create a unique sound that defines and embodies his life.  He was raised in the Appalachian Mountains in a small town in Georgia where he spent his time fishing, hunting, camping and teaching himself how to play the guitar. Born into a musical family, J.D. began songwriting at an early age taking influence from his surroundings. He moved to Nashville to front the southern rock band Heathen Sons who continued to release two full-length albums and an EP and received notoriety for their single “Temporary Queen” which was featured on the hit ABC show “Blood & Oil.” Before disbanding in 2019, the band was seen performing with acts including Nikki Lane, Jericho Woods, Whiskey Myers, Will Hoge, Leah Blevins and Goodbye June, as well as appearing at Whiskey Jam and SXSW.
