Dave Grohl made his first onstage performance since Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins’ death on March 25 over the weekend. Quite appropriately, it was with a famous friend: Paul McCartney.
The Beatles great served as one of the headliners for the 2022 edition of the Glastonbury Festival, performing on Saturday evening (June 25). During his headlining set, McCartney brought some famous friends onstage to perform, including Grohl.
“This guy flew in specially to do this,” McCartney said during the set. “We love you.” “I swear, I would never miss being right here with you, right now,” Grohl said.
Grohl then kicked into a jam with McCartney and his band for The Beatles classic “I Saw Her Standing There” and the Wings song “Band on the Run.”
Following Grohl, Bruce Springsteen joined McCartney to perform Springsteen’s “Glory Days” and “I Wanna Be Your Man.” Both Grohl and Springsteen also performed for the encore, playing “The End” with McCartney and the crew.
