Joseph Quinn and his turn as Eddie Munson in season four of Stranger Things has turned the actor into one of the breakout stars of the summer. While many now-iconic “Munson Moments” have gone viral, perhaps the biggest moment came in the season four finale where Munson performed the Metallica classic “Master of Puppets.”

Quinn touched on the making of the scene in an appearance last night (July 25) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he said, “It was kind of nerve-racking, but it was a weird point in the pandemic where no one had seen any live music for ages. And it was me and Gaten [Matarazzo, who plays Dustin]. You’ve had Gaten on [the show]. C’mon, he’s the best. And it was so fun.”

He added, “I was nervous, but it was kind of like a rock concert, and I got to feel like a rock star for one night, and that was pretty great. That’s all I need.”

“Master of Puppets” has seen a massive resurgence in popularity since being featured in the season four finale Stranger Things. Earlier this month, the track entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the very first time at #40. As of publishing, “Master of Puppets” currently sits at #50 after reaching #35 the previous week.

Of course, when pointed out to Quinn by Fallon about the song’s recent chart success, he said, “I get no royalties, though,” with a laugh.
