Yesterday’s (September 24) Global Citizen Festival took place simultaneously in Ghana and New York City. The free annual music festival celebrated its 10th anniversary with performances by Mariah Carey, MÅNESKIN, Usher, Mickey Guyton, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers, Charlie Puth and more. Priyanka Chopra Jonas hosted the milestone event, which brings together artists, activists, world leaders, philanthropists, corporate leaders and more, with one collective mission: to end extreme poverty.

The 2022 Global Citizen Festival campaign culminated in $2.4 billion in to end extreme poverty, with key commitments announced on the festival stages from world leaders, governments, and corporate, philanthropic, and NGO partners.

Last year’s focus was COVID-19, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet and advancing equity for all. Hosted by singer and actress Selena Gomez, VAX LIVE featured performances by Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin, and H.E.R. Special appearances included Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King, Jimmy Kimmel, Nomzamo Mbatha, Olivia Munn, Sean Penn and more. This year’s event didn’t have any big names in presenters besides Bill Nye the Science Guy.
