Metallica spent this weekend falling back to the first two albums of their catalog and for good reason. The metal icons performed an intimate theater show in honor of Jonny and Marsha Zazula, the late founders of Megaforce Records which released Metallica’s debut and sophomore LPs Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning.
The show took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. last night (November 6) and featured a 16-song setlist, which can be viewed below.
In a statement on the show, Metallica said, “Jonny gave us our first break in New York, released our first albums on his Megaforce Records label, and put us out on the road for our first real tour. With Marsha by his side, Jonny was a mentor, a manager, a label head, and a father figure to us all. We would not be where we are today without the two of them. Sadly, we recently lost both Jonny and Marsha, just a little more than a year apart.”
