M. Shadows Sounds Off on Ticketmaster Pricing

Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows shared some interesting thoughts about Ticketmaster. This comes in the wake of Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, reportedly being under investigation by the United States Justice Department for potential abuse of power in the live music industry.

Shadows writes, “If you think Ticketmaster sets the price of tickets… you’re wrong – the artists does. If the supply is 52 stadiums but the demand is 900 stadiums (per NYT’s) you don’t automatically deserve a ticket because you are a fan. Demand exceeded supply!”

Shadows also commented on Ticketmaster’s practice of “dynamic pricing.” This practice is an algorithm that automatically raises prices on select tickets based on their demand. “Dynamic pricing” is an effort to prevent ticket brokers from snagging tickets only to put them up for sale on the secondary market.  The singer writes, “Per dynamic pricing…. Artists have watched front row tickets go for 10x-20x face value from scalpers but see none of the upside. Ask yourself if that is fair. It may suck… but is it fair? Leave it to grand-standing politicians to get involved in something they know nothing about…. And leave it to artists to shrug their shoulders and point the blame.”

How A7X’s M. Shadows Pissed Off Taylor Swift Fans

Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows made a huge mistake last night (November 7): He shared an opinion on Twitter that an intense fanbase thought was an attack on them, and then they got all up in his mentions.

That intense fanbase? Swifties aka: Taylor Swift fans. Just a quick lesson for everyone on things you shouldn’t ever do:

-Don’t tug on Superman’s cape.
-Don’t spit into the wind.
-Don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
-And don’t mess around with the fanbases of massive pop stars!

Anyway, here’s what went down.
