The Rolling Stones are working on a new album, and it’ll reportedly feature Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as guests.
This news comes via Variety with the outlet citing “multiple sources.” Variety reports McCartney recorded some bass tracks, with Starr “also slated to play on the yet-to-be-announced album.” Additionally, the new Stones album is going to be produced by Andrew Watt, who produced Ozzy Osbourne’s last two albums.
Furthermore, Variety notes, “Recording sessions took place in Los Angeles in recent weeks and, while it’s unclear which tracks will make the final cut — or whether McCartney and Starr would end up on the same song — the album’s production is nearing the mixing phase.”
This is the latest news about the new LP from the Stones. Keith Richards said last month in a video shared on his social media channels, “There’s some new music on its way, and hopefully, I’ll get to see you. Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed.”

Back in November 2022, Ronnie Wood shared the Rolling Stones were working on new music some of which will feature late drummer Charlie Watts. He told The Sun, “We are recording the new album now and we are going to LA in a few weeks to carry it on and finish it off. Charlie is on some of the tracks and drummer Steve Jordan.” Watts, of course, died in August 2021 at age 80.
The last studio album the Stones released was 2016’s Blue & Lonesome, which was a covers album of blues songs. The last LP of original material from the legendary band came in 2005 with A Bigger Bang.
The Rolling Stones have released original material since 2005 that was included on greatest hits compilations, like “Doom & Gloom” and “One More Shot” from 2012’s GRRR! In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, the band also released the stand-alone single “Living in a Ghost Town.”
