Tom Morello Weighs in on Resurfaced Meg White Drumming Debate

Tom Morello is the latest high-profile name to defend Meg White and her drumming.

As previously reported, writer Lachlan Markay took Meg’s drumming to task in a tweet he has since deleted due to intense backlash. Markay shared a tweet about “Seven Nation Army” being considered “the best song of this century.” He wrote, in part, with his retweet, “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer.”

Morello shared a photo of Meg via Instagram and some kind words. The guitarist wrote, in part, “Meg White is one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock n roll. It’s not even a debate.”

He notes, “She has style and swag and personality and oomph and taste and awesomeness that’s off the charts and a vibe that’s untouchable by all you boring-ass skin beaters who think we care about your ‘tight’ syncopated para-diddles.”

Jack White took to Instagram last week to defend his former drummer/ex-wife. He shared a photo of her and a poem that reads, in part:

“To be born in another time,
any era but our own would’ve been fine.
100 years from now,
1000 years from now,
some other distant, different, time.
one without demons, cowards and vampires out for blood,
one with the positive inspiration to foster what is good.”

Meg White’s Drumming Gets Trolled, Surprising People Defend Her

Meg White has been trending on Twitter this week thanks to someone who trolled her drumming for absolutely no reason.

In a since-deleted tweet, writer Lachlan Markay wrote, “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer. Yeah yeah I’ve heard all the ‘but it’s a carefully crafted sound mannnn!’ takes. I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having sh-tty percussion.”

Even though The White Stripes officially disbanded in 2011, Meg White and her drumming is somehow a hot topic. Markay’s comment was taken to task by a number of people on Twitter and can be viewed below.
