How You Can Own One of Rob Halford’s Cat Shirts

Rob Halford is one of the best rockers to follow on Instagram, if only for all the photos he shares of himself in cat shirts. Now, you can own one of The Metal God’s cat shirts from his collection.

Halford donated a shirt to be auctioned to benefit Kitten Rescue Los Angeles. The shirt is signed by Halford and features a design of kittens being sucked up by a UFO. As of publishing, the shirt’s highest bid is $70. However, we expect more bids to come in before the auction closes on Sunday, April 23 at 12 PM ET. Full details on the shirt can be found here.

The Judas Priest frontman has a history with the animal rescue. In April, he was invited to name a litter of kittens up for adoption. The six-kitten litter was given the names Turbo, Angel, Starbreaker, Rocker, Mama Rose and Taylor, in tribute to Taylor Hawkins.

It’s not surprising that The Metal God donated one of his own cat shirts. He seemingly has an endless supply. In October 2020, he was asked while appearing on the Cobras & Fire Podcast how many cat shirts he owns. He said, “I think I have about a hundred cat t-shirts now. I used to have a beautiful kitty cat called Ben, who lived a long life and then suddenly passed, like they all do. It’s like losing a family member. But it was kind of difficult, because I’m on the road all the time and there’s nobody here at the house.”

Many metal fans love cats, and Halford has a hunch as to why.

“I think the reason why we like ’em in our metal community is because they’re fiercely independent,” said The Metal God. “You think you know your cat, [but] the cat knows you better than you do. And they’re so full of character and knocking things off the shelf and looking at you as if to say, ‘Look what I can do.’ But I love ’em for that. They’re beautiful creatures.”
