Tony Hawk Fronts Nine Inch Nails Cover, Belts His Ass Off

Tony Hawk has surprised many fans by fronting a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish.” Believe it or not, the skateboarding legend sounds pretty great.

The cover appears on the YouTube channel “Mikey And His Uke.” The Mikey in question is Fairmounts frontman Mikey Hawdon. Per the “About” section on his channel, “‘Mikey And His Uke’ is a series of all-star covers in which Fairmounts’ frontman Mikey Hawdon enlists the help of friends and fellow musicians to create exciting versions of his favorite songs. Videos are skillfully edited by Michael Crusty of Crusty Media and mixed and mastered by the talented Steve Rizun of Drive Studios.”

Hawdon isn’t kidding about these covers featuring all-star lineups. Joining Hawk on the cover is guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Brad Magers, keyboardist Kat Lucas and drummer Ryan “Legs” Leger. The cover’s video event features a funny blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from Trent Reznor.

“Wish,” of course, is featured on NIN’s 1992 EP Broken.
