Meet Philadelphia’s Own Dirty Brain

Meet Philadelphia’s own Dirty Brain, MMR’s Local Shots Artist of the Month.

Formed in 2022, Dirty Brain started as a collaboration between Vocalist/Songwriter Will Schmidt and Drummer Paul Buondonno. Will Schmidt began his musical journey writing and recording music in 2012. Since starting his first few projects in GarageBand on a school-distributed iPad, Will went on to study music composition and production at the collegiate level. Meanwhile, a veteran in the Philadelphia music scene, drummer Paul Buondonno has played hundreds of shows in the tri-state area and has his eyes set on many more.

The band has achieved a unique, polished and experimental hard rock sound with the help of Nick Morzov, who has engineered for bands such as Blink-182, Animals as Leaders and Loveless. Featuring Ian Mackenzie on keys, Aidan Riess on bass and Mike Zajac on guitar, Dirty Brain has set out to release their first album and begin touring in 2023.

Collectively, the members have had years of experience playing locally and nationally, sharing bills with bands like Foo Fighters, Shinedown, Robert Plant, Limp Bizkit and even getting air time on Philadelphia’s legendary rock station 93.3 WMMR. With more music on the way, Dirty Brain is aiming to have one of the biggest rock band debuts to hit the Philadelphia music scene.
