Shinedown Prep Vinyl Release for Live Album

Shinedown announce that their live album Somewhere in the Stratosphere will be pressed to vinyl for the very first time.

The band announced the release of the 2011 live set on Instagram, which you can watch below. It will include 4 vinyl LPs that are red, black and beige splatter colored. The tracks were recorded at gigs in Washington State and Kansas City, according to the listing on Shinedown’s merch site.

The collection takes its name from a lyric in the song “Second Chance,” which appears on LP2 side D. Alongside Shinedown’s hits and fan favorites, there’s a cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These.” To go with the record’s re-release, there are commemorative shirts available for purchase with the show dates featured on the front.

This special edition of Somewhere in the Stratosphere is available for pre-order now at Shinedown.com, with an official release date of December 8th.

Shinedown delivered an explosive performance at this year’s MMRBQ – photos are below. Before their set, Pierre Robert and Brent Porche sat with Brent Smith and Zach Myers for an interview that covered their new album Planet Zero, the weird way they met Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, and they also touched on the topic of mental health.

When Pierre asked them how they summon positive energy in tough times, Zach Myers commented: “There’s no right or wrong way to go through life. There’s no right or wrong way to deal with it. I think for us, leaning on each other is important… leaning on the crowd, leaning on the show… those people out there have gone through it with us.”

Brent Smith added: “It comes down to the audience… We’re a band that’s been talking about mental health for the better part of 20 years. But how we summon it, is we’ve been given a responsibility by the people that have given us the platform to be ourselves… We always stay focused on staying honest and staying true to who we are… but we want to empower people. It’s all we’ve ever wanted to do.”
