The Beatles’ Social Media Channels are Teasing Something

The Beatles and their social media channels shared an identical post on Wednesday (Oct. 25) indicating they’re teasing something.

The band’s social media channels featured either a photo or a silent video of a blank audio cassette tape. Included with these posts was a link to the band’s official website. When you go to TheBeatles.com, you’re greeted with the same cassette tape image and an invite to subscribe to their email newsletter.

So far, there has been no indication of when more details about this mystery will be released.

The Beatles and AI

Despite breaking up over 50 years ago, it’s amazing that The Beatles still have the ability to make news. Back in June, the iconic band caused a slew of headlines when Paul McCartney talked about how artificial intelligence was used to finish a song from an old John Lennon demo tape. Sir Paul told BBC Radio 4, “We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI so that then we could mix the record as you would normally do — it gives you some sort of leeway.”

This then led Macca to release a statement via social media clarifying some reports on this topic. He said, ”

Been great to see such an exciting response to our forthcoming Beatles project. No one is more excited than us to be sharing something with you later in the year.”

McCartney added, “We’ve seen some confusion and speculation about it. Seems to be a lot of guess work out there. Can’t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created. It’s all real and we all play on it. We cleaned up some existing recordings – a process which has gone on for years. We hope you love it as much as we do. More news in due course.”

Currently, there’s no release timeline for what McCartney called the “forthcoming Beatles project.” Of course, this isn’t the first time old Lennon demos have been used to make “new” Beatles music. “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love” were reworked and released on 1995’s Anthology 1 and 1996’s Anthology 2.
